Ray Leach - President

The founder and President of APS is one of North America's foremost environmental consultants; a system designer with a strong track record of success developing in-plant and at-store reclamation systems.

As President of APS, Ray Leach has designed, built, and implemented the At-Store Reclamation system, now serving retail grocers across Canada. Since 1996, the company has grown from an idea to a thriving, 50-person team serving grocers and retail chains in every province.

Mr. Leach founded APS after ten years as President of Waste Alternatives Inc., developing practical and economically viable environmental management systems for clients including manufacturers, producers of packaged goods, restaurants and foodservice organizations, and industry associations.

Mr. Leach has led the development of solutions for some of North America’s leading companies and organizations, including:

Canadian Polystyrene Recycling Association (CPRA)
Lily Cups Inc.
McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada
McDonald’s Corporation (USA)
Quick Service Restaurant Council
Special Olympics
Sweetheart Cup Company
Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) Unsaleables Committee
Procter & Gamble
Developing the benchmarking compensation model that is has been successfully used by the industry for the past 7 years.

Mr. Leach continues his work with Waste Alternatives today.

He is also past president / chairman of Second Harvest, a perishable food redistribution charity. Every year Second Harvest diverts over four million lbs. of fresh food to shelters, social service agencies and other needy institutions across the Greater Toronto Area. In 1997, Mr. Leach received The Mayor’s Award for Charitable Work in recognition of his achievement with Second Harvest.

Mr. Leach was also a member of Ontario's Oil and Grease Task Group and Ontario’s Sewer Use Joint Technical Committee.

His involvement in the hands-on development of all aspects of waste diversion from a resource perspective has made him a leader in the waste diversion industry. He believes environmental solutions and systems must be sound, practical and economically viable.

Prior to founding Waste Alternatives, Mr. Leach was President of Trash Research Corporation, which organized and performed the first Canadian landfill excavation. Previously he was a partner at Recycling Development Corporation, and has worked internationally in money markets and business development.

Mr. Leach is a graduate of York University.
