Traditional Reclamation Systems

Traditionally, reclamation is essentially an accounting function:

  • Products are identified and separated by store staff.
  • Boxes are labeled, shrink wrapped and back hauled to a distributor's warehouse or central facility.
  • Loads are consolidated and shipped to a reclamation centre.
  • Products are scanned and sorted.
  • Reports are generated at the end of period.

Traditional Reclamation too often results in a lack of trust between Distributorand Vendor.

Challenges:

  • The traditional process takes several weeks.
  • Products are handled 4-5 times.
  • Products are shipped on an inconsistent frequency, leading to period overlap.
  • Frozen items cannot be backhauled for processing.
  • Garbage from hundreds of stores is backhauled through the supply chain and consolidated in one location.
  • Improperly labeled boxes can lead to confusion and missing credits.
  • A number of hidden costs and unnecessary risks can be avoided.
