Food Banks

All usable items are donated to food banks, satisfying the mandate from the FCPMC and industry guidelines. This means there are no gray market liability issues. It also ensures brand protection.

All donatable products are dropped off to more than 200 members of the Canadian Association of Food Banks.

APS supports and adheres to the CAFB Code of Ethics:
Not to trade, sell or barter food products. Items can only be given away.

APS tracks the flow of all products both electronically and manually: item totals and box totals are tracked at each store and signed off by the receiver.
The number of boxes dropped off at food banks is recorded in the scanner and on a waybill signed by the food bank receiver.
Following each food bank delivery, APS contacts each food bank to confirm the quality and quantity of food delivered.

The grocery industry, through the APS system, is one of the biggest suppliers of donations to food banks in Canada
